Why be awesome?

You may be wondering, ‘what kind of an egomaniac names his blog Marketers being Awesome?’

It’s not what you think.

It is not an ego thing at all. It is an aspiration.

In more than 20 years as a marketer inside the corporation, inside the agency and as a consultant, I’ve seen way too many marketers not living up to their potential. Not even interested in trying.

If you don’t want to make what you are doing more awesome, why are you doing it?

That’s been my philosophy on marketing from the beginning. There is always a way to make it bigger, better, bolder.

Being awesome is a choice. It takes effort and a desire to keep learning and improving. If that’s not for you, check out the blog Marketers being Mediocre.

But if you are on a journey to marketing awesomeness, this blog is for you. Let’s travel together!

About me

I mentioned I’ve been in the marketing profession for more than two decades. That predates the Internet, email, SEO, social media and mobile. All are exciting technologies to reach people in the digital marketplace. But the fundamentals for persuading them haven’t changed that much at all since I started out.

That was as a copywriter in a direct marketing agency. In the years following I have been in various marketing roles at various levels of leadership, developing and implementing strategies to grow B2B revenues and brand preference in a variety of industries, such as:

  • Industrial manufacturing
  • Healthcare
  • Legal publishing
  • Imaging supplies

If you’re dying to know more about my work history and accomplishments, take a look at my LinkedIn profile. It is, in all humility, ridiculously awesome.

I have always stayed close to my passion for copywriting and publishing. That explains why I am drawn to content marketing and why I started this blog. Here is a post telling about my journey to content marketing from my roots: The accidental brand journalist.

Or, if you’re more visual, check out my video:

How can we make our marketing more awesome?

If you are wondering this, let’s talk. I am available to help you as a strategy consultant, freelance copywriter, or if the fit is right, as a permanent team member.

Just go to the Contact Me tab and send me a message. Let’s make some awesome!
